How Mutations and Size Traits Work
A rare-looking catch is exciting, but its cash per second decides whether it earns a spot on your plot. Throw Food For Animals mutations include Gold, Diamond, Ruby, Emerald, and Rainbow variants, while size labels add another distinction to your animals. A single catch can have both, such as a Huge Ruby Ghost Pirate.
These traits matter because different versions of an animal can produce different amounts of money. Your animal’s species still matters, too: a mutation on an early-area animal does not automatically make it more profitable than a catch from farther down the map.
Read the animal’s full name and income together before replacing anything on your plot.

Mutation Names and Size Labels
Color and material variants you can encounter include:

- Gold
- Diamond
- Ruby
- Emerald
- Rainbow
Size labels include Big, Large, Huge, Titanic, and Infinite. The Colossus label also appears on a Rainbow Shadow Demon.
These descriptors can appear together. A Diamond Ghost Pirate can be Large, while a Ruby Ghost Pirate can be Huge, Titanic, or Infinite. That gives you more to chase than simply collecting each species once.
Gold animals are accessible through ordinary throws during early progression. You can catch a Gold kookaburra while working through the Forest, so purchasing a special egg is unnecessary for getting a mutation.
For collection goals, look through the animal index to see which species you still need. For earning money, compare the actual catch’s cash per second.
How Traits Affect Animal Income
The Ocean provides a useful comparison because regular, Gold, and Big catches have distinct earnings:

| Animal variant | Cash per second |
|---|---|
| Seahorse | 20 million |
| Big Seahorse | 41 million |
| Mantis Shrimp | 30 million |
| Gold Mantis Shrimp | 45 million |
The Big Seahorse earns more than the regular Mantis Shrimp, but the Gold Mantis Shrimp earns more than both. Those numbers make the practical choice straightforward: equip the animal with the higher income when your goal is faster cash generation.
Avoid choosing solely by rarity odds. A Ruby Quawker with odds around one in 445,000 earns 1.6K per second, while a Gold lion earns 3.1K per second despite having much less extreme catch odds.
Use Equip Best when managing your animals, and review your plot after several throws. Replace low earners as stronger catches arrive, especially when animals from earlier areas are still occupying space.
Progress Before Chasing a Specific Variant
Training, food upgrades, and new areas are central to finding stronger animals. Pull-ups build Throw Power, stronger throws reach farther, and better food helps attract rarer catches.

Keep those upgrades moving while collecting variants:
- Upgrade your pull-up stand. Train to increase your throwing strength.
- Buy better food. Food progression helps you attract rarer animals.
- Aim for the perfect throw. The timing display awards +20 on a perfect hit.
- Compare catches after entering another area. New species can replace mutated animals from earlier zones.
The jump between areas can outweigh an impressive early mutation. A Gold lion earning 3.1K per second falls far behind a Jungle bat earning 249,000 per second.
Push toward another area when stronger training equipment becomes affordable. Keep collecting along the way instead of spending every throw trying to repeat one early rare catch.
Using Lucky Throws and Server Luck
Lucky Throws and Server Luck provide additional ways to pursue rare catches. Server Luck can be increased to 16x, while Lucky Throws require activation before you launch.
Activate the Lucky Throw before throwing your food. Purchasing one alone does not activate it. Look for the rainbow-colored throw effect when using it.
Keep your expectations tied to the result: even with boosted luck, a throw can produce a Large Diamond animal rather than the variant you wanted. Continue comparing income after each catch instead of assuming that a boosted throw must replace your current best animal.
If you spend Robux, distinguish luck purchases from the permanent passes. x2 Cash costs 99 Robux and doubles animal earnings; x2 Training Power costs 149 Robux and doubles XP from pull-ups. Choose between stronger earnings, faster training, and luck boosts based on the mechanic you want to improve.
